Born and raised between East London and Zambia, Tom has been singing professionally since the age of 7. For most of his childhood, Tom sang in the choir of St. Paul’s Cathedral, learning musicianship from John Scott. Tom was Head Chorister in his final year, earning 4 prizes in that year alone. He sang the treble solos of Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms for Marin Alsop in 2003, recording it for Naxos and helping it win a Gramophone Award.

He then won a music scholarship to The King’s School Canterbury, learning there from Howard Ionascu before gaining a 1st class degree in Music at Manchester University. After leaving, Tom sang for The Sixteen, Gabrieli Consort, The Tallis Scholars, BBC Singers, The Monteverdi Choir, Collegium Vocale Ghent, Polyphony, The Dunedin Consort, The Marian Consort and many others as a choral singer, while also singing regularly as a soloist with a wide range of UK Choral Societies and Orchestras. Tom sang in Stile Antico 2015-20 and as a full time member for the last four years until very recently.

Tom is now at the Royal Academy of Music, studying voice with Raymond Connell. Role engagements during the 2019-20 season include Don Ottavio Don Giovanni (Surrey Opera), Ferrando Così Fan Tutte (Love Opera), Il Pastore L’Euridice (Ensemble Orquesta), Tamino The Magic Flute (Flat Pack Music) and Shepherd Venus and Adonis (RAM). Recent Opera Scenes at The Royal Academy of Music have included Vasek The Bartered Bride, Male Chorus Rape of Lucretia, Tamino Die Zauberflöte and Remendado Carmen.

On the concert platform, Tom recent engagements include: Tenor solos for Paul McCreesh and The Gabrieli Consort (Gdańsk, Versailles, London); solos for Laurence Cummings, John Butt and Phillippe Herreweghe in performances of Bach Cantatas at RAM; Händel L’Allegro, Penseroso, ed il Moderato (Lausanne and Sion, Switzerland) with Marc Bochud, Haydn Creation (Chester), Rossini Petite Messe Sollenelle (Clerkenwell), Monteverdi Vespers of 1610 (Chester, Cardiff and Oxford), Bach Magnificat (Cambridge), and Gavin Bryars Cadman Requiem (King’s Place). Other previous concert performances include Evangelist and Tenor solo roles in Bach St. Matthew Passion and St. John Passion, Rameau In Convertendo Dominus, Mozart Requiem, Monteverdi Vespers of 1610, Handel Messiah, Schütz Musikalisches Exequien, and Beethoven Mass in C.
