In sixteenth century Italy, Claudio Monteverdi fundamentally changed the future of music, demonstrated in a rebirth of the madrigal style. Fieri Consort present a programme featuring music by Monteverdi and Marenzio from that crucial turning point in the genre of the Italian madrigal, alongside 20th-century and contemporary works that take this style and rework it into something new.
